In early 2014 Antigua & Barbuda launched its Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP)
Mirroring the likes of St Kitts and Nevis, the new Antigua Citizenship by Innvestment programme offers similar incentives as the St Kitts programme but with the added beauty of 365 beaches and a strong tourism industry.
The Antigua CIP programme is designed to attract international investors of good standing in order to benefit Antigua and Barbuda and its development. CIP investors can opt to invest in real estate in an approved development. In return these investors, along with their families, will have the opportunity to apply for citizenship in Antigua and Barbuda and receive all the benefits that citizenship confers.
Obtaining a passport through the Antigua Citizenship by Investment Programme allows an investor and their family to enjoy a number of benefits conferred by their citizenship.

As a member of the Commonwealth, the holder of an Antigua and Barbuda passport can enjoy visa-free travel to over 120 countries including the United Kingdom, Canada and all European Union Schengen countries.
As well as the ability to travel visa free and invest in a growing economy, the citizenship allows – but not requires – an investor freedom to reside in Antigua for as long as they wish with the benefit of not having worldwide taxation on income, and no capital gains tax.
The benefits of dual or multiple citizenship range from ease of movement where there is political and social unrest, where travel within or out of a country might be restricted
or personal and family security might be a concern, to investment planning where an individual may need to transfer funds in order to reduce taxation and prepare for the future.

Antigua Citizenship by Investment should be distinguished from residency programmes. Although many countries offer residency visas to investors and wealthy individuals there are few countries with provisions for granting Citizenship by Investment and a passport. Citizenship by Investment is the granting of citizenship status and Antigua passport to an individual and their immediate family members contingent on a specific investment within the country granting the citizenship.
